Please take a look at our photo gallery of Torba, Bodrum and the peninsular.

Torba

Just a five-minute drive from Bodrum, tucked into a protected bay at the extreme northeast corner of the peninsula, lies the pretty seaside village of Torba.
It is a favourite destination for Turkish holidaymakers who have large summerhouses surrounded by flower filled gardens lining the small streets. Early and later in the year the village is relatively unhurried but during July and August swells with families from Istanbul and the atmosphere is lively and very Mediterranean.

Torba's quiet beaches, which have been awarded the Blue Flag award for their cleanliness, have attracted a number of four and five star hotels. These hotels are happy to open their facilities (sunbeds, pools, pontoons) to non-residents who purchase drinks or ice creams.

There are a number of local fishing boats as well as luxury yachts in the local harbour. Scattered along the sea front you'll find many restaurants and bars, some quiet and unassuming, others with lively music and sophisticated menus.

Villa Firinci

Villa Firinci is located approximately 10 minutes' walk from the beaches of Torba. There is a small shop which stocks all 'the essentials' only a minute's walk along the road. Adjacent to the shop is a small, friendly restaurant serving fantastic locally caught fresh fish at excellent prices.

The Dolmus service can take you to Bodrum at practically no cost at all times of day and night and several of the good restaurants in Bodrum (please ask us) offer a complimentary minibus service for groups.
Coupled with the availability of transfers to and from the airport, there is no need to hire a car when staying in Torba.

Bodrum

Originally known as Halicarnassus, the resort of Bodrum is the most attractive resort in southern Aegean Sea.
Situated on a peninsula, its narrow streets wind their way down to the sea and its twin harbours sheltering luxury yachts.
Many local boats offer daytrips to nearby islands or the pristine beaches and seaside restaurants along the magnificent coastline.

The 15th-century crusader Castle of St Peter, centrally located between the harbours, dominates every part of the town.

Shopping

Shopping in Bodrum is a delight, with many shops and markets lining the winding streets of the resorts. Local goods, from carpets and kilims to leatherwear, gold and silver jewellery, and designer clothing are all available. In Bodrum some shops stay open late at night, some even all night. Don't forget to haggle!!!

Dining

Bodrum has an array of restaurants stretching along the seafront of both harbours. These offer seafood, local Turkish cuisine and all manner of international cuisine.

Night-life

The flamboyant nightlife in Bodrum offers a fabulous mix of cultures with westernised decadent nightclubs beside the Turkish delights of the 'meyhanes', which are local clubs offering eastern promise on balmy summer nights. Most of the bars in Bodrum's mile-long 'Bar Street' offer dancing, belly-dancing floor shows, live music and outdoor seating (often on the beach) with a view of the illuminated castle. For clubbers the main place to be is Halikarnas, one of the biggest and swankiest open-air clubs in the world, where the entrance charge matches the volume of the music and brightness of the laser lights. There are plenty of other clubs too, even one on a catamaran that sets sail late at night and takes the party out to sea until the dawn.

What to Do

Torba's Blue Flag accredited beaches, lying in the Aegean Sea are a perfect location for a variety of water sports, including scuba diving, jet skiing and snorkelling. Please see the activities page for more details.

Getting Around

There are numerous ways to get out of town and explore the enchanting villages, bays and historic sites in the area.
The cheapest, and often most convenient, is the local minibus or 'Dolmus'. These services run from all the towns and many beaches on the peninsula into Bodrum.
A journey from Torba to Bodrum costs about 60 pence, takes 10 minutes, and runs until the early hours of the morning in the Summer months.

Please note that we are also listed with James Villas as Villa Basak if you prefer to book with an ABTA bonded agent.
